The Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation is granting $2.5 million this year to non profits that are strengthening our communities. 

By winning this competitive grant, we are excited to continue strengthening our community. Grant programs like this help us achieve our mission to provide youth – particularly underserved youth – with the support, opportunity, and agency to build their skills, creativity, and confidence within the uniquely American art-form of jazz music. With this newly won grant, Oaktown Jazz Workshops will be able to continue elevating the next generation of professional musicians, music educators, and culture bearers.

Will we use the funding to challenge youth from all backgrounds to develop the skills and discipline needed to succeed in any field they choose to pursue. This grant is more than an award to our program – it is a celebration of our mission and we are very happy to share this exciting opportunity for growth.

The Erika Oba Trio celebrates the release of Ghosts on the Water. The album explores themes of ecology and ritual, and features original works as well as arrangements of Japanese and Okinawan folk songs.
