Anne Sajdera Quintet, Sunday, August 4th • 2PM

Enjoy a dynamic evening of jazz with the Anne Sajdera Quintet featuring Mike Olmos (trumpet & flugelhorn), Harvey Wainapel (saxes), Anne Sajdera (piano), Jeff Chambers (bass) & Deszon Claiborne (drums) – performing music from her latest release, music of jazz masters Roy Hargrove & Duke Ellington, and a taste of what’s coming up on her next CD (brand new music!).

Hosted by Oaktown Jazz Workshops, $20 suggested donation

As a pianist, composer, bandleader and accompanist, Anne Sajdera is a creative force whose music encompasses an unusually far-flung array of traditions. With musical roots spanning the globe, she melds American and Brazilian jazz to her training in European classical music, creating an utterly personal sound that’s melodically verdant, harmonically sophisticated and rhythmically compelling.

A regular Bay Area presence since 2001, her quintet performs original compositions, driving arrangements of traditional Roma melodies, as well as music of modern jazz masters like Herbie Hancock & Kenny Kirkland.

In 2018, Sajdera received a grant from Intermusic SF to fund her next recording project to be released in early 2020.
